Blending the dance-inspiring rhythms of American funk and soul jazz, with harmonies and melodies from East and West Africa, Sun Hop Fat embraces an astounding groove and is the premier Bay Area ensemble devoted to expanding the Ethiopian Jazz tradition, while adding its own distinctive NorCal flavor.

Sun Hop Fat’s newest release, Elephant Parade, is their first to contain all-original material, mixing a deep reverence for the music’s history with au courant influences and uniquely Bay Area sensibilities.

Laissez les bon temps rouler!!  Celebrate Fat Tuesday before the show with the Underpass Brass Band in our restaurant and bar along with NOLA-inspired food & drink specials. We’ll have Hush Puppies, Shrimp & Sausage Gumbo, King Cake from Noe Valley Bakery, Sazeracs, French 75s, plus beads, masks, decorations and good times galore!  The party starts at 5:30 pm with a second-line on Valencia Street!
